AASC Invites Public to Free Workshop in Council
The Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AASC) invites the public to attend a fun and free interactive workshop series called You Can! Live Well,
Virginia!
This six-week workshop will be held at the Senior Citizens Club in Council. Meetings take place at 1015 RP Harris Dr. from Noon to 2:30 p.m. on the
following dates: May 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10 and 17.
Each participant who completes the workshop receives a copy of the book Living a Health Life with Chronic Conditions. Intended to help individuals
take charge of their health, the workshop series is designed for people with chronic conditions like diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart
disease, chronic pain and anxiety.
The workshop offers instruction on effective communication with family and health care providers, managing medications, designing a fitness program,
managing symptoms, eating healthy, and other tools for healthy living. Caregivers of people with chronic diseases may also find the workshop helpful.
You Can! Live Well, Virginia! is made possible by funding from the Administration on Aging, the Virginia Department for the Aging, and the Virginia
Department of Health’s Division of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control. For more information, contact Mary Banks at 276-964-4915.
