Local Company Making Difference in Senior Lives
Mountain Materials Community Outreach Program in Russell County is working extra hours to make a difference in the lives of the area seniors.
Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens Emergency Home Repair Program has partnered with Mountain Materials Community Outreach Program to help provide a much needed service to the seniors of AASC’s four county service area. The crews work their normal shifts at Mountain Materials and then construct ramps after hours that allow seniors to be able to maintain their lives within their homes and continue being vibrant parts of their communities.
Rick Rose, a 35 year employee of Mountain Materials, stated that just over a year ago, the employees were given the green light to start the Community Outreach Program. Mr. Rose along with upper management said that the community had been so good to their company that they felt led to give back.
The partnership between AASC’s Emergency Home Repair Coordinator, Jerry Monk and Mountain Materials Community Outreach has been a blessing. Mr. Rose stated that part of the vision of the Community Outreach Program was to partner with an organization that was able to screen potential clients and find the best fit for the work that they are able to complete. AASC cannot thank Mountain Materials Community Outreach Program enough for their service to our area seniors.
