Short brings hometown healthcare experience to AllCARE for Seniors PACE Program.

Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AASC) has hired Carolyn Short as new AllCARE for Seniors Nurse Manager.

Short will coordinate clinical and therapeutic services in the AllCARE for Seniors PACE Center along with coordinating services with community partners. Short will be responsible for maintaining the clinic and therapy areas as well assessing the health needs of AllCARE for Seniors Participants.

AllCARE for Seniors revolves around an interdisciplinary team approach and operates each participants care according to an individualized care plan adopted by the interdisciplinary team. Short will contribute to the plan of care, coordinate initial implementation of nursing care plans and provide nursing care, as well as periodic evaluation of participant nursing needs.

Prior to her employment with AASC, Short worked at a local home health agency and has over 30 years of nursing experience. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University in 1997.

“Nursing has always been my major part of my life. The ultimate goal is to help others and the AllCARE for Seniors program allows me to give individualized attention to participants and sincerely make an impact on their daily lives. ” explained Short.

When not providing nursing care, Short volunteers her time by teaching nursery classes at Jewell Ridge Presbyterian Church and spending time with her husband, Tom and their two children along with their five grandchildren at their home in Jewell Ridge, VA.
