AASC Celebrates Four Country Transit’s Anniversary, Employees and a Job Well Done

Four County Transit celebrated its’ fifth year of operation in their own facility this past week. Four County Transit is operated by Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens in Cedar Bluff, VA and offers public transportation to citizens of all ages in Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties.

Four County Transit Director Joe Ratliff explained, “We are thankful to have a facility such as ours in Southwest Virginia that is comparable to any transit agency in the state. Public transit is needed in a rural area just as much or more as in urban areas. With the greater distance between basic life needs in Southwest Virginia, public transportation is even more important to the quality of life of our citizens.”

During the event employees were provided lunch, congratulated on a continued effort to assist the citizens of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell counties and introduced to new initiatives designed by the administrative staff of Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens.

AASC is one of Virginia’s 25 Area Agencies on Aging designated by the Virginia Department for the Aging to carry out the department’s mission to foster the dignity, independence and security of older Virginians by promoting partnerships with communities at the local level. AASC offers information and services for older adults residing in Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties.
